I am exploring the use of textures to add to stories of buildings, warehouses and industrial sites from out past. Often, this is not the traditional view of what we think of as nobel or magnificent, but the more hidden, mundane views of what employees may have seen as they go to work. The inspirations for me are the shapes, textures and inevitable signs of negelct and deterioration of that which is not loved or cared for, but reflects a wistful reach for the past. I will seek to do more.
I have accentuated the wabi sabi aspects of the imperfections and emphemeral nature of all things, by adding two of my textures (concrete and rust) to tell the story better.
1. Trades entrance of an old store off Port Road.
2. Side meter box of Shed 26, Port Adelaide, which has passed into history in the name of progress.
3. Side entrance of Shed 26, Port Adelaide.
4. Shopping street in the old part of Port Adelaide.
